Campaign Update - January, 2012

THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE

Rick Santorum and William J MurrayGING-PAC ENDORSES RICK SANTORUM – As the chairman of Government Is Not God Political Action Committee (GING-PAC), I officially endorsed former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum for the office of the President of the United States just prior to the Iowa caucuses. To this official endorsement by GING-PAC I added my personal endorsement as well.

Often GING-PAC will assist more than one social conservative in the same race without an endorsement. Early in the primary process I authorized funds for both Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Senator Rick Santorum because GING-PAC’s purpose in existence is getting out the pro-life, pro-family message, and both of those candidates were doing just that. We did not send any funds to Governor Rick Perry who also had a pro-life message, because he was supported from the start by wealthy donors and super-PACs who gave his campaign a multimillion dollar advantage. Newt Gingrich also was supported with millions of dollars of super-PAC money.

Up to and during his time as Speaker of the House, I met with Newt Gingrich on numerous occasions. On one of those occasions he was promoting mandated health insurance that is no different than Obamacare, which he is now against. I really like Newt Gingrich personally and he is a brilliant man; however, the reality is that he has been on both sides of more issues than has Governor Mitt Romney. I cannot support either of these men because of their numerous flip-flops.

As the Iowa caucuses approached it became apparent that there was only one solid social conservative with a proven record of leadership both in the House and in the Senate, and that I believed could take on establishment candidate Mitt Romney. That individual is Rick Santorum.

Rick Santorum has an understanding that goes beyond being pro-life and pro-family. He thoroughly understands the current rise of radical Islam and how it poses a threat to Western civilization. Rick Santorum is committed to defending religious freedom not only here in America but around the world. During his time in the Senate Rick Santorum established the International Religious Freedom Caucus. This caucus of Senators in cooperation with outside groups worked tirelessly for the freedom of religious minorities, particularly in predominantly Islamic nations where they are persecuted.

In my capacity as the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition I worked closely with Rick Santorum during his years in the Senate to free men and women in prisons in Islamic nations facing false charges of blasphemy. In some cases they faced the death penalty because they were born into Muslim families but had accepted Christ as Lord.

Rick Santorum is my choice and the choice of GING-PAC to replace Barack Obama – the worst, most anti-capitalist, anti-Israel, pro-Islam, and anti-military leader — our nation has ever experienced. We will put our resources and time into helping elect Rick Santorum to become the next President of the United States.

You can help GING-PAC help Rick Santorum in several ways:

First, social network fund raising is done at a site called Fundly.com. I have set up a personal page at www.Fundly.com/RickSantorumforPresident79 that includes a video message from me, endorsing Rick. One hundred percent of the funds raised there go to Rick Santorum’s campaign. The nice thing about Fundly.com is that you can then share your donation on Facebook and that encourages others to donate as well.

Second, donations can also be given at his home Internet site. I am a registered “bundler” with the Rick Santorum campaign and my initials are the code to let the campaign know I sent you there. To give directly at this site go to: www.RickSantorumforPresident.com/WJM.

Third, checks can be written directly to Rick Santorum for President and sent either to GING-PAC or directly to the campaign. If you send your checks to GING-PAC we will “bundle” them every week and send them for special handling at the campaign headquarters. This lets Rick know that the PAC and I are working for him. (Election laws do not allow us to tell a candidate or his campaign what we are doing on his behalf in advance.)

Fourth, you can send funds to GING-PAC that we will use to promote independently the campaign of Rick Santorum. As an example, back in 2008 GING-PAC called every known pro-life voter in South Carolina and Georgia, asking them to vote for Mike Huckabee. We could do that again for a candidate such as Rick Santorum, but we have to have the funds on hand.

Every four years we hear the talking heads on television say that an election will ‘determine the future of America’ or that it is the ‘most important election since Abraham Lincoln’ or something to that effect. It is true that virtually every election changes the direction of the nation somewhat, but this election is truly different.
In the last three years Barack Obama has increased the debt of this nation by more than did all previous presidents combined. He has implemented new rules, using executive orders, to make sure that our nation will be dependent on oil from Islamic nations for decades to come. He has also done true damage to the social fabric of the nation by promoting homosexuality while at the same time drastically increasing Islamic immigration.

Four more years of Barack Obama will separate yet another generation of Americans from dependence on the family and instead encourage them to be wards of the government. We will have a nation of puppets, with strings called “benefits” attached to puppet masters in Washington. Our freedom of speech is being eroded as has already occurred in Europe, as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton work to outlaw any criticism of Islam.

It is my promise to you that Government Is Not God – PAC will work full time to defeat Barack Obama and his cronies in the Senate who want to “fundamentally change” the United States into their vision of a utopia – which will be a dream life for them but a nightmare for the people.

This is the hard truth: GING-PAC needs more than $10 and $20 contributions in 2012. To fight the one billion dollars Barack Obama intends to spend, we need some real money as well. Please consider a contribution of $100 or more this month to GING-PAC. Donate today.

With your contribution to GING-PAC you can also include a separate check made out to Rick Santorum for President, and I will deliver it to him with other checks from GING-PAC supporters. Thank you and God bless you

Campaign Update - October-November, 2011

THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE
WHAT THE PRESIDENTIAL CHALLENGERS BELIEVE – Over the years I have had the privilege to work on various projects with some of the current Republican candidates for President and I have met and talked to most of them more than once. Just before she announced her run for the presidency I was one of just eight conservative leaders who had lunch with Michele Bachmann at the Capitol Hill club in Washington, DC.
What kind of people are the Republican candidates and how do they differ from Obama? Back in the late 1990’s, then Speaker Newt Gingrich appeared at several press conferences held by the Religious Freedom Coalition in support of a Religious Freedom Amendment to the Constitution that would allow kids and teachers to pray in school. One rather famous photo shows me speaking at a podium with the entire House leadership of Newt Gingrich, Dick Armey and Tom DeLay standing behind me. Although he never commented on Islam during the George W. Bush presidency, since Obama was sworn in Gingrich has made numerous statements and produced documentaries on Islamic oppression.
Over a period of many years Senator Rick Santorum ran a separate International Religious Freedom Caucus in the Senate. He held monthly meetings with organizations such as the Religious Freedom Coalition, not only to discuss but to take action against the persecution of religious minorities in the Middle East, and in China and Vietnam as well. In July of 2006 I was with Senator Santorum at a press conference at the Washington, DC Press Club when he was the first seated politician to use the phrase “Islamic fascism,” much to the disdain of the White House. Far from backing down, at a later meeting at the White House with Senators  he held a copy of the speech up in the air and asked President George W. Bush to please read it.
Rick Santorum is a conservative, believing Catholic. He and his wife Karen, who is a nurse, have seven living children.  On November 12, 2004, Rick and Karen were invested as Knight and Dame of Magistral Grace of the Knights of Malta in a ceremony at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York City. Only the most conservative of Catholics would receive such an honor. During conversations with the couple at a meeting here in Washington, DC, Karen told me that her only disagreement ever with her husband was when he backed liberal Republican Senator Arlen Specter for reelection. She is definitely no Laura Bush.
I have known Herman Cain for many years and back in 2004, Government Is Not God political action committee supported his Senate campaign because of his outspoken support of social conservative causes. Recently he told the Values Voter Summit, “I am 100 % pro-life from the hour of conception.” Herman Cain is not just a businessman. He worked for six years in the Department of the Navy and has made it clear he is opposed to homosexuals serving openly in the military. Cain stands with social conservatives on virtually every issue. In my presence, in meetings he has called Islamists an existential threat to America.
Note: In November the left leaning online journal Politico lauched attacks against Cain accusing him of sexual harrassment. He was never accused of touching anyone or actually doing anything, but a couple of women that worked for him said they “felt uncomfortable.” The reality is different. Virtually every executive in America has had such accusations thrown at them when they have job disputes with women; it is part of the corporate culture. In 48 hours the TV networks ran more tha 50 segmetns on the unproven accusations. In 1997 when Kathleen Willey accused President Bill Clinton of “groping” her, the media ran one story in the first 48 hours. Why the different standard? Liberals have a radical, racist hatred of conservative black Americans.
The views of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann were well known before she declared for the presidency. During a recent conversation, Michele Bachmann told me, “I thought I was a Christian because I was born into a Lutheran family. As a teenager I heard the Gospel with two girlfriends at an evangelical church and I made the decision to abandon myself for Jesus.” Several times during the conversation Michele used the term “abandoned myself” to describe her conversion experience.
In small group discussions I have been in with Michele Bachmann, she has convinced me that she understands the threat of Islamic domination of the world. This month I met her husband Marcus for the first time. He is a Christian psychologist whose office is surrounded by homosexual demonstrators virtually every week because he accepts patients who don’t want to be “gay” any more.
I have met Congressman Ron Paul numerous times and he is a true libertarian. Unfortunately libertarians like Ron Paul agree more often with Barack Obama on social issues than with me. He sees absolutely no need for the United States to assist persecuted Christians. He believes that sales of drugs, including heroin, and the sale of one’s body for use in prostitution should be up to each state. Because of his position on same-sex marriage he has been endorsed by the “conservative” gay political action committee Log Cabin Republicans.
While I met briefly with Rick Perry when he was Lieutenant Governor of Texas, I have never had an in depth conversation with him to try to discern his sincerity. I have never met with Governor Romney as we do not travel, shall we say, in the same circles. My purpose here is to talk about those I know personally and to try to convey the difference between them and President Barack Obama.
The four Republicans I have met and interacted the most with — Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum — have profound differences with President Barack Obama. In conclusion, none of these four, nor any of the rest of the GOP presidential field,  approves of the radical class war demonstrations across the nation that are supported by Barack Obama, the Democratic Party and the major labor unions. Obama’s support of these violent demonstrations, which at one point shut down the port of Oakland, must be remembered in 2012.
A final note: There was no October issue of the GINGPAC Update because I have been working almost full time on the Constitution or Sharia Conference that will take place in Nashville, Tennessee on 11/11/11. The Hutton Hotel in that city was pressured by Muslims and cancelled the contract with us. Since then we have moved the conference to a church. For more information,  please go to www.PreservingFreedomConference.org.
And finally, GINGPAC does need financial support to be a part of the 2012 battle. While the presidential race is in the headlines we still need more conservatives in the House and the Senate. Help GING-PAC today!

Remembering the jihad attack of September 11th

I was on I-395 approaching the 14th Street bridge at the moment Islamic terrorists flew hijacked American Airlines 77 into the Pentagon. At the time I was literally on the phone with an assistant to President Bush talking about the jihad attack in New York City. I had been headed to a press conference in support of the Sudan Peace Act that the White House opposed. The Sudan Peace Act would have punished the Islamic Sudanese government economically for murdering for the continued persecution and mass murder of Christians in the South Sudan. This video contains my remarks at a church service on the first anniversary of of the jihad attack of September 11th against the United States.

House and Senate Pass Budget Control Act

In a 76-26 vote, the U.S. Senate passed the Budget Control Act and sent it to President Obama for his signature on August 2, 1011:

GINGPAC founder William J. Murray issued the following statement following the vote:
Voltaire: Le mieux est l’ennemi du bien. We are seeking a perfect solution to a situation that is beyond repair. At this point, if the government drastically reduces spending, the nation will spiral into depression. If the government continues to borrow at the current rate, the nation will go bankrupt. The “perfect” Tea Party solution crashes the economy. The “perfect” liberal solution crushes America under debt and drives away investment. Unfortunately, nothing in the middle works either as long as it is a collective government action of some sort. The only solution is the natural one, which involves decline and reconstruction. Regrettably, the rebirth of a nation economically can take decades.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, issued a similar statement. Jordan noted:

After months of debate, the House and Senate have reached a deal to raise the debt limit (read about the plan here).  In the end, I could not support the legislation.  While it contains cuts and caps, they should be much more robust.  Additionally, the framework of “triggers” and a new 12-member House-Senate committee opens the door to dangerous national security cuts and raises the possibility that six Democrats and one misguided Republican could rush tax increases to the House and Senate floors.

Most importantly, this deal is not a solution.  The Cut, Cap, and Balance Act remains the only plan that protects our AAA credit rating from the risk of a downgrade.

Our debt is a permanent, long-term problem, and it requires a permanent solution in the form of a Balanced Budget Amendment.  While the House and Senate will be required to vote on one this fall, there is no requirement that it pass and be sent to the states for ratification.  Unless we send a Balanced Budget Amendment to the states, however, promises to cut spending today can always disappear tomorrow.  (Watch our quick video on Washington Spending 101).

Just a few weeks ago, the Balanced Budget Amendment wasn’t even a part of the conversation, despite the overwhelming support it has among the American public.  The growing momentum toward requiring Washington to actually balance its budget is encouraging, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.

China's Deadly Utopia

William J Murray is the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition
William J. Murray, the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition along with several congressmen and Senators spoke at an event on Capitol Hill highlighting the persecution of the Falun Gong and other religious minorities in China. Many speakers dealt with the repressive nature of the Chinese Communist Party, but Murray dealt with the core problem of central planning that has been the sources of repression and misery for humanity since the beginning of the 20th Century. His remarks, “China: The Great Utopia” have since been requested by numerous news outlets and have already been televised worldwide. His remarks follow below:
As an introduction to his second chapter in The Road to Serfdom, Friedrich Hayek used a quote by Friedrich Holderlin to sum up collectivism: “What has always made the state a hell on earth has been precisely that man has tried to make it his heaven.”

There are those who see our greatest challenge as the conflict between communist ideology and the free market place or between fascism and democracy, but these are but aspects of the one conflict that humanity faces: reality versus utopianism. During the 20th Century, utopian dreams, unfortunately, became reality in the persons of Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Adoph Hitler, and Moa Tse Tung. The result was the “state of hell” referred to by Holderlin. Governments seeking utopia on earth killed tens of millions of human beings in seventy some years of wars, gulags, starvation and mass killings.

While the utopia of Adolf Hitler’s “Thousand- Year Reich” ended in military defeat, and the Soviet “Workers’ Paradise” ended in humiliation for Russia, the dream of a centrally planned utopia lives on in China under the Chinese Communist Party. As in other centrally planned dictatorships, freedom is a casualty in China. Central planning of any kind requires silencing of critics and a control of the press and of speech to insure the continuation of “the plan.” For the level of control needed in China even the worship of God must be tightly directed. If not, “the plan” could perhaps be undermined, even destroyed by critical voices.

In China today there is only one political party, the party that is implementing “the plan” for the lives of the Chinese people. Unable to survive using the pure collectivist model of Karl Marx, the Communist Party has “evolved” to a National Socialism model similar to that of Adolph Hitler, using highly controlled free enterprise sectors to produce the tax base to continue its control.

There is no greater threat to that control than unregulated human faith, the faith represented by the Christian underground churches and the practitioners of Falun Gong. The Chinese Communist Party has used every kind of pressure against the Falun Gong including arrests, rapes, and murders and even forced abortions on Falun Gong women held in captivity. Utopianism requires a grand plan: A Germany without Jews, a Russia without the rich, a Cambodia without the educated, a Caliphate without Christians  —  or a China without Falun Gong or House Church  critics of the Communist Party’s “plan” for the Chinese people.

20th Century utopianism gave the world enough death and destruction to last humanity for 10,000 years. “The Plan” the Chinese Communist Party has for China will fail; it is inevitable. The day of that collapse will mark a new freedom for the repressed. It is the world’s responsibility to give the message to the Chinese communists that “the plan’ is an illusion and that freedom is inevitable regardless of their repression of their own people.

Campaign Update - July, 2011

LIBERAL MEDIA LIKES RINO JON HUNTSMAN
Big Journalism commentator Kevin Martin believes that the liberal media has a definite strategy figured out in pushing for Jon Huntsman to stay in the race to win the GOP nomination for President of the United States.

The strategy, notes Martin, is to push for Huntsman (an unpalatable candidate for conservatives) so that conservatives will either stay home or vote for a third party candidate. This effort will ensure an Obama re-election.

The mainstream media, says Martin, “will try to portray him as a Reaganesque figure. Unlike Reagan, Huntsman has evolving views on important social issues such as civil unions, man-made global warming, cap and trade and abortion rights that can appeal to voters across the board in the 21 Century. We will be inundated with puff pieces and push polls on his business experience and ability to work with our largest foreign debt holder China on issues of jobs and trade since he was Obama’s pick as Ambassador to China up until recently, which alone earns he has the experience to bring us out of the Great Recession.”

Martin concludes: “Conservatives must remain fully aware that the mainstream media and its pundits will encourage Democrats to crossover and try to ensure that Huntsman wins several open primary states in the early going to make him the perceived GOP front runner. Now with that said, conservatives must remain focused on the fact that our very nation is at stake and we must not allow the hi-jinks of the Main Stream Media and the Democrats to suppress or split our vote in 2012 with the unpalatable Jon Huntsman.”
RINO Huntsman is not only benefitting from the liberal media’s support of him, but he also has the support of his billionaire father who is working behind the scenes for him. Jon Huntsman, Sr. is a self-made billionaire, whose company invented the clamshell containers used by McDonald’s Big Macs.

GAYS LIKE HUNTSMAN AS WELL - I was just a little stunned when someone sent me a link to a story in Q Salt Lake. The Q stands for queer and it is a gay newspaper in Salt Lake City which has semi-endorsed Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman. Rather than editorialize I will quote directly from the gay site, “While there are no official endorsements from any caucuses or groups within the Republican Party yet, the Utah Log Cabin Republicans (ULCR) worked with Huntsman when he was governor, and are ready and willing to work continue that relationship,”

Melvin Nimer, the president of ULCR, said. “Huntsman was the first governor of Utah to open up the governor’s mansion to the LGBT community,” Nimer said. “They [the Huntsman campaign team] have reached out to get some help from us and some people within the group are working with him.” Having read this glowing endorsement of Huntsman in the official “queer” site, needless to say GING-PAC will not be supporting Jon Huntsman for president.

THE FLIP SIDE OF HUNTSMAN IS BACHMANN
Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann is in second place as choice for President of the United States in 2012 in virtually every poll, just weeks after she announced her bid for the presidency. In a recent nationwide Rasmussen poll Bachmann was at 19% of likely GOP voters,  while Romney was at 33%. However, Romney has been running for the office for years and has many millions of dollars for advertising, whereas Bachmann had officially been in the race just days when those numbers came out. In addition Bachmann is in a dead-heat with Romney in Iowa at 22% to his 23%.  Bachmann has twice the percentage as the number three candidate, Herman Cain.

To firm up her social conservative base, Bachmann recently signed a marriage pledge that includes a statement that she will not allow sharia law to advance in the United States. A native of Iowa, she will be hard to beat there, and Romney may skip that state and concentrate on New Hampshire. GING-PAC has made no formal endorsements in the presidential race. However, GINGPAC has always endorsed and supported Michele Bachmann in her races for the House.

TODD AKIN FOR SENATE

Todd Akin for Senate
GING-PAC has supported Todd Akin since he first ran for Congress in Missouri. He is a godly man who has served as a Sunday school teacher for decades. His family has followed him in service to this nation. Akin was a commissioned officer in the Army. Two of his sons are in the military and a third is at the Naval Academy.  On several occasions during radio and TV interviews he has used the motto of this organization, saying that “government is not God.”
In discussing NBC “editing”  the words “under God” out of a story on the Pledge of Allegiance, Akin noted: “Well, I think NBC has a long record of being very liberal and at the heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God and a belief that government should replace God. And so they’ve had a long history of not being at all favorable toward many of things that have been such a blessing to our country. These powerful words have liberals enraged.”

According to Akin, “This is a systematic effort to try to separate our faith and God, which is a source in our belief in individual liberties, from our country. And when you do that you tear the heart out of our country.”

Rep. Akin’s Communications Director Steve Taylor told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Akin was discussing the basic differences between conservatives and liberals on where rights come from. Liberals think rights come from government; conservatives believe rights come from God. The differences in beliefs, says Taylor, are the “defining principles of two political ideologies.”

Congressman Akin wrote the forward for my book, The Pledge: One Nation Under God which details the history of the Pledge of Allegiance. That book is still available at a reduced price at: www.PledgeUnderGodBook.com

GING-PAC has endorsed Todd Akin for the Senate seat now held by radical liberal and pro-abortion Claire McCaskill.

When you help GING-PAC elect men and women to Congress such as Todd Akin or Michele Bachmann, you are helping to steer America in the right direction. With your help, GING-PAC can make a difference in special elections as they occur. PLEASE DONATE NOW!

May, 2011 Campaign Update

AMERICANS ARE FED UP WITH BARACK OBAMA!
Two liberal news organizations, the New York Times and CBS News conducted a joint poll in April that had startling results despite the fact that the questions themselves were intended to generate comments favorable to Barack Obama. In addition, Democrats were deliberately oversampled in the poll. Despite this the results for the White House were brutal:
  • 70% of Americans feel things in this country are seriously off on the wrong track. That is the highest number since the 79% registered in 1/11/09 when President Bush was still in office.
  • 80% rate the national economy as bad (44% fairly/36% very). Only 19% rate it as good (2% very/17% fairly).

  • 39% think the economy is getting worse; only 23% say it is getting better. Last month those numbers were even at 26. In February they were flipped at 32% better, 22% worse.

  • 57% disapprove of Obama’s handling of the economy. That is the highest disapproval measured by the CBS/NYT poll. His 38% approval is matched only once by an October pre-election poll, just before the Democratic defeats of 2010.

  • 59% disapprove of Obama’s handling of the federal budget -- also the highest CBS/NYT has ever measured that number.

  • Obama’s Libya approval numbers have completely flipped from 50/29 approve in March to 45/39 disapprove today.

  • 46% disapprove of the way Obama is handling foreign policy. That is the highest number ever for Obama in a CBS/NYT poll. His 39% approval on foreign policy is also his lowest score ever.

  • 55% tell NYT/CBS they would rather have a smaller government providing fewer services. Only 33% want a bigger government with more services.

  • When asked “Do you think Barack Obama has the same priorities for the country as you have, or doesn’t he?” 53% said no and 43% said yes. When Obama was inaugurated those numbers were 65% yes and 28% no.

It is clear that the vast majority of the American people do not approve of the radical agenda of President Barack Obama and neither do the corporate bosses that once supported him. In 2009, hedge fund managers such as Daniel Loeb, founder of Third Point LLC, raised tens of millions of dollars for Barack Obama. Their reward was changes at the IRS that raised their tax obligation on profits from 15% to 35%. There is the possibility of changing the minds of rich liberals who did not realize Obama would go after them with such zeal. Loeb has since given $486,000 to Republicans.

We now have an opportunity to reach out, particularly to independent voters, and beat not only Barack Obama in 2012, but even more of his radical supporters in Congress. GING-PAC will continue to be on the forefront of supporting candidates who are opposed to the radical agenda of Barack Obama. Already we are active in a special election in California.

THE CONGRESS

SPECIAL ELECTION ON MAY 17thRadical Democrat congresswoman Jane Harman,   who votes 100% with her fellow Californian wacko Nancy Pelosi, has resigned her seat to join the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. It was President Wilson who helped found the League of Nations and who sank many of our battleships to prove America was a peaceful nation.

GING-PAC is supporting Craig Huey, a small business owner who publishes conservative election guides, in the special election to be held May 17th for the open seat.

Huey has a long history of involvement in conservative Christian political activism, and if elected to fill Harman’s seat he can be counted on to fight for limited government, biblical morality, fiscal sanity, and a strong national defense.

Southern California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher has endorsed Huey’s candidacy: “I fully endorse Craig Huey for Congress in the 36th Congressional Special Election. Craig is not a politician. He’s a successful small business owner who knows how to create jobs. He will bring to the district and to Congress fresh ideas on stopping the irresponsible national deficit, bloated and wasteful government programs and pensions…”

I have met with Craig Huey, and he is our kind of candidate. Since time is short, I urge you to send contributions directly his office:

Craig Huey for Congress
23211 Hawthorne Blvd Suite 200 A
Torrance, CA 90505

Learn more about Craig at his Internet site at www.craighuey.com

Time is short in this election and I urge you to take urgent action. GING-PAC has already sent funds to Craig Huey and to be honest, we could send more if the funds were made available.

ON THE SENATE SIDE

A GING-PAC supported Republican Senator, Roger Wicker, has called upon his colleagues to defund Planned Parenthood. In a floor statement Senator Wicker noted that Planned Parenthood performed 332,277 abortions in 2010, which was more than one quarter of all abortions performed that year in the United States. At the same time Planned Parenthood received more than $350 million in taxpayer funds in 2010.

Wicker said before a vote on his amendment to the budget, “We have an opportunity today to stop taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, and I hope my colleagues will join me to defund this organization.” Despite his efforts the Democrat Majority headed by Senator Harry Reid has kept money flowing to Planned Parenthood abortion mills

Earlier this year, Sen. Wicker introduced the Life at Conception Act which is designed to ensure that the Constitution’s fundamental right to life is applied to all Americans, especially to those who cannot speak for themselves. A 2008 Zogby International poll found that 59% of those polled believe that human life begins at conception. No vote was allowed on Wicker’s bill by Democrat majority leader Harry Reid.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
During the first four months of 2011, GING-PAC has added 304 new members! If each of those new members donate just $100 each during 2011, GING-PAC will have $30,400 more to help conservative candidates during special elections and in the coming fight to win back the Senate and the White House.

Please share WWW.GINGPAC.ORG with your friends on Facebook and help us recruit members for this very crucial 2012 election cycle. Support on the Internet helps, even small contributions. Please contribute today.

January - February 2009 Campaign Update

WHO IS BILLY JOE AND WHY IS HE A REPUBLICAN?

Billy Joe, his wife and three children live in a double wide in Virginia, and last November he voted for the McCain/Palin ticket. Billy Joe does construction work that has not been easy to find for the last year or so. He has no medical insurance, and his children are covered under a combination state and federal medical program. His family would qualify for food stamps, but he is not willing to apply for them. He did not earn enough in 2008 to pay any income tax and will get a refund equal to a little more than was withheld from his checks for taxes. Just doesn’t sound like he should vote Republican, but he does. He told me he votes Republican because he loves his God, his family and his shotgun, in that order.

I met Billy Joe in the parking lot at the Super Wal-Mart when he asked me where I got the “Palin for President 2012” bumper sticker that was on my Jeep. I told him the PAC I am chairman of made them up and handed him two, which he tried to pay me for. He had no idea what a PAC (Political Action Committee) was. We talked about his kids and he told me how he wanted them to grow up in a country where they wouldn’t be ashamed to talk about the Lord at school and could go hunting it they wanted to. He was afraid the public schools were going to teach his boys that being gay was better than being straight, and he smiled and assured me it wasn’t. Billy Joe is one of the faces of the Republican Party we never see on Capitol Hill; he is the part of the party that would stand in line overnight to get a glimpse of Gov. Sarah Palin.

The day after I met Billy Joe, I attended a meeting with the new chairman of the House Republican Conference, Congressman Mike Pence. At the meeting he talked about how the Republican Party was moving to a stance of “protecting the taxpayer,” and how that was going to move the party back into the majority two years hence. As Congressman Pense went on and on about protecting the taxpayers, I thought about Billy Joe and realized that the good congressman had no idea who the real constituency of the Republican Party was. Most millionaires and billionaires, including Warren Buffet, voted for Barack Obama. It was guys like Billy Joe who elected Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, and they had done it out of principle, not out of greed. A lot of them did not even make enough money to pay income taxes.

As Pence spoke, he didn’t realize he was telling us, “We can buy the votes of the taxpayers by telling them we will help them keep more of their money to buy consumer goods.” This just does not matter to Billy Joe and millions like him who have voted Republican since Ronald Reagan ran in 1980. It was Reagan who convinced them that the Democrat Party had deserted him and them, and adopted the gay Hollywood lifestyle that promoted killing babies in the womb and banning God in the classroom.

I don’t know exactly how many Billy Joe’s there are who voted Republican, but after talking to him I drove through a trailer park and discovered a lot more American flags flying there than in my own neighborhood, and a lot of McCain/Palin bumper stickers still on the tailgates of pickup trucks. I can’t prove this, but my guess is that as many as a full quarter of those who vote GOP do not make enough money to actually pay income taxes. I base this on the fact that 41% of those who file income tax returns have a “zero tax liability.” That means they got back 100% or more of any tax withheld from their paychecks.

Congressman Mike Pence is a good man and a smart man, but he has read too much drivel in Heritage Foundation White Papers. Pence and a few other key Republican figures should stand in front of a Wal-Mart to meet some Republicans who actually work for a living, the kind that care more about their families and God than about buying alligator skin covered trash cans at Rodeo Drive boutique shops. With the knowledge of who their constituency actually is, just maybe they could start to understand how to win elections again.

WE MUST REPLENISH OUR FUNDS

There are going to be run-offs and special elections almost immediately. Just about all of our funds have been exhausted during the hard fought 2008 election cycle. We must prepare now for the upcoming fight to put more social conservatives in the House and Senate. Please send a check or give an online gift at www.gingpac.org .

PAUL WEYRICH DIES

My good friend and a conservative icon died on Thursday, December 18, 2009. I have been a part of the famed invitation only "Weyrich lunch" for more than a decade, and I came to know and love Paul not only for his views, but for his personal courage. He continued to fight for social conservative views and common sense economic policies even after the loss of both his legs some years ago. He was on a first name basis with congressmen, senators and presidents. All conservatives, particularly this one, mourn his loss. Read more about Paul Weyrich. Video and slide show gallery.

Mid-September Campaign Update

THE PRESIDENCY
MCCAIN AND OBAMA TAKE BREAK FOR 9-11 - The John McCain and Barack Obama campaigns set aside most of their campaigns on the seventh anniversary of the Jihad attack against the United States. The liberal media blitz against Gov. Sarah Palin did not pause . Liberals are accusing her of trying to ban books at a library (untrue); teach creationism in Alaskan public schools (untrue), and posing in a bikini with an assault rifle (also untrue despite the fact that CNN reported it). However, I did sort of like the cartoon of the Moose saying, "Be afraid, be very afraid.
I was driving past the Pentagon on 9-11 just as flight 77 hit. My remembrance of that day was published a year later. Click here to read my personal account of 9-11.

THE PALIN FACTOR - Polls of Europeans, particularly the British, had Barack Obama the three to one favorite over John McCain; that was before Sarah Palin entered the picture and reminded the Brits of their beloved first ever female prime minister, Margaret Thacher. The tone of the British press has changed somewhat as can be seen from a recent article in the Daily Mail titled, A pistol-packin' Looby Loo: the Left's worst nightmare.

THE CONGRESS
JUST 15 DAYS TO LEGISLATE? - This week I had lunch with Congressman Adam Putnam. As Chairman of the House Republican Conference, Putnam is third in line in the House Republican leadership. The Conference Chairman is charged with articulating his party's message, and with building the agenda for Republicans in the House. He was elected to lead the Republican Conference by his fellow congressmen.

Congressman Putnam told me that leftist Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi had scheduled only 15 work days for the rest of year for the House. Of those days, only 14 are before the election and there is just one day of work after the election. She scheduled so few days despite the fact that most of the government's funding bills, which are already months late, need to be passed. Even bills to fund the military have not been passed. Meanwhile, Rep. Putnam said he does expect Pelosi to file dozens of bills to name post office buildings. Boy that sounds important!

SENATOR REID HAS PLANS? - Not much to report in the Senate at all. The Majority Leader of the Senate, Harry Reid, is not going to advance any legislation without the permission of Comrad Obama who is on the campaign trail and falling further behind the McCain/Palin ticket every day. Obama was going to showcase himself on the Senate floor with "education bills" but now does not have the time to come to Washington.

SENATOR BIDEN IN TROUBLE WITH BISHOPS - Two prominent U.S. Catholic bishops this week said that Democratic vice presidential nominee, Senator Joe Biden contradicted church teaching. He said on a TV interview that determining when human life begins is a "personal and private" matter of religious faith not to be imposed on others. Read more. He is just one of many pro-abortion Catholics such as Nancy Pelosi in the Democrat Party.

Huckabee's Super Tuesday Win

On Super Tuesday night I was at Mike Huckabee’s headquarters at the Clear Channel Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. When the first numbers came in from Georgia cheers went up from the crowd that had gathered. As time went by it became apparent that Mike Huckabee was going to win every state that he had the funds to campaign in. Even in states he was unable to visit he was receiving double digit support and claiming second place in others.

The news media had been streaming into Little Rock all day as exit polls showed a clear comeback for the man who had been dismissed by the media after a second place finish in South Carolina and falling to forth in Florida. All major outlets including Fox News had declared the Republican primaries a “two man race” between McCain and Romney. Meanwhile Mitt Romney continued his constant negative attacks on Mike Huckabee using surrogates such as Washington insider Paul Weyrich to declare that Huckabee was just “splitting the conservative vote” to allow McCain to win.

At about nine o’clock individuals close to the campaign including myself were escorted onto the stage in preparation for a statement by Gov. Huckabee. We he came onto the stage the crowd went wild shouting “Mike is back, Mike is back.” It took some time before Mike Huckabee was able to settle down those gathered and make his statement.

In typical Huckabee fashion he said, “The media said it is a two man race and it is, they just got the wrong two men.” With that the crowd once again began to chant. In his usual manner Mike Huckabee was gracious not only to his opponents but to all those who had continued to believe in him even when the pendants and press had declared his campaign dead.

There were more than 25 television cameras set up. So much press had showed up that a second press stand had to be set up on one side of the auditorium. The main press stand at the back had filled to overflow.

Mike stayed as long as he could after speaking to greet supporters before going to the area the campaign had set up for TV interviews. A special room had been set aside for those of us who were longtime supporters of his presidential campaign. We watched in amazement as the various networks that had declared his campaign dead and who had stopped sending reporters to cover his events interviewed him. CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CSPAN and even CBS ran long interviews with Mike who made it clear it was now him and McCain and that Romney, despite spending over 100 million had not done well. Romney had outspent Mike Huckabee by 15 to 1 buying off many Washington insiders.

GING-PAC chairman William Murray and Ed RollinsI had talked to Mike Huckabee’s national campaign manager Ed Rollins the day before Super Tuesday. This is the ninth presidential campaign Ed Rollins has worked on including Ronald Reagan’s. Men who have trained under him include Lee Atwater and Karl Rove. He has seen just about every kind of conduct from candidates and he told me that Mike Huckabee treats everyone around him with kindness and respect.

Although Ed Rollins is a practicing Catholic I have never known him to be an outwardly spiritual man. Yet, it was a spiritual experience that brought him to the Huckabee campaign. At age 65 he asked for God’s direction in his life and was guided to Mike Huckabee’s campaign for president.

Very few of those who work on the campaign are paid. Attorneys give up their valuable time to take phones to listen to the problems of voters at polling places. CEO’s of corporations sit next to high school students working on phone banks to get out the vote. Virtually every yard sign for the Huckabee campaign has been printed at the expense of those who are passing them out. The Huckabee campaign has spent just $1.00 for every $15.00 spent by multi-millionaire Mitt Romney and the results in delegates is about the same.

In the last two months Government Is Not God – PAC has spent over $50,000 in support of Mike Huckabee. The night before Super Tuesday we paid for the calls to 187,000 pro-life households in Georgia asking them to turn out to vote for Mike. We did our part in the victory he had on Super Tuesday.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED. We can do more, but we need your help now to replenish our funds. We need to help Mike in other primaries and we have other pro-life congressional candidates to help as well. Please give today at www.gingpac.org .

NOTE: Although I have personal relationships with Gov. Huckabee and membes of his staff there is no coordinated activity between GING-PAC and the Huchabee campaign. Any telephone, radio or print campaings by GING-PAC promoting the Huckabee campaign are not discussed in advance with anyone associated with Gov. Huckabee.

GING-PAC Sponsors New Hampshire Event

Government Is Not God – PAC will co-sponsor the New Hampshire Republican Party’s “First in the Nation” Presidential Brunch in New Hampshire. The brunch will be held Sunday, January 6th just two days before the first presidential primary of the political season.

GING-PAC will run a half page ad in the program of the “First in the Nation” brunch as a co-sponsor. In that half page ad GING-PAC endorsing Governor Mike Huckabee for president. GING-PAC has already contributed thousands of dollars to Governor Huckabee’s campaign. Our half page ad also points out that GING-PAC is the oldest purely social conservative political action committee. The very presence of the GING-PAC chairman, William J. Murray, at this event as a co-sponsor indicates the real influence of social conservatives in the Republican Party.

The “First in the Nation” brunch is a major press event which occurs the weekend that the national media representatives arrive in New Hampshire to cover the primary which is held on Tuesday. Government Is Not God – PAC will have an influence on the news coverage and at least some effect on the outcome of the election with our endorsement of Governor Mike Huckabee.

The “First in the Nation” Presidential Brunch will be held at Hampshire Hills in Milford, NH on Sunday the 6th between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Media calls are welcome at 202.554.2358.

Campaign Update 2008 – December, 2007 Edition

Editor: William J. Murray

OUR CANDIDATES WIN TWO HOUSE SEATS WITTMAN WINS IN VIRGINIA, LATTA WINS IN OHIO

In the November Campaign Update I told you that I had attended receptions for Bob Latta (R-OH) and Rob Wittman (R-VA) here in Washington, DC and had personally handed both men checks to help with their campaigns. In both races special elections were set for December 11th of this year.

Both of these elections were important and we won both of them. These were not just Republican victories, these were victories for the social conservative movement. Both Bob Latta and Rob Wittman are solid pro-life social conservatives.
VIRGINIA

Rob Wittman a longtime officeholder in eastern Virginia, but a brand new first term member House of Delegates, had 61 percent to defeat Democrat Philip Forgit, an Iraq war veteran and former teacher who took 37 percent. Independent Lucky Narain, a member of the Army Reserves, took just 2 percent. Wittman managed to receive a greater percentage of the vote in Virginia’s 1st congressional district than did President George W. Bush in the last election.

Rob Wittman puts Jesus Christ first in his life and is not ashamed to tell people that. As for his pro-life stance he has publicly stated numerous times that he believes life begins at fertilization. He is a Boy Scout leader and has headed a men’s Christian organization where he lives. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he also holds a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia and is an expert on the Chesapeake Bay. He will be a great asset to the conservative cause. (At left Rob Wittman and William J. Murray in Washington, DC)

I live in Rob Wittman’s district. He replaces a dear friend of mine, JoAnn Davis, who died after a two year battle with breast cancer this year. We will all miss JoAnn in Washington.

OHIO

The Democrats thought they were on a roll and actually believed they could win Ohio’s 5th district after the death of Congressman Paul Gillmor. They did not count on strong pro-life candidate Bob Latta who was a member of the Ohio legislature. (See other side for more)

Bob’s father, Del Latta, had held this 5th district seat for 30 years until 1988. After he stepped down Gillmor was elected for three terms before he died in a tragic fall in his home in Arlington, Virginia this year. Bob Latta received 57% of the vote running against Democrat Robin Weirauch. This was her third try at the seat. She had been beaten twice by Paul Gillmor. Although I had never worked with Del Latta, it is my understanding from those who did that his son Bob leans much more to the social conservative cause. Like Wittman in Virginia, Latta believes that life begins at fertilization.
DOES IT MATTER?

Do these two off year victories matter that much? YES! The Democrats poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into the Ohio race trying to elect another pro-abortion candidate to help radical San Francisco liberal Nancy Pelosi redirect America to the far left. The radical Democrats financed by billionaires like George Soros believed the American people want a socialist America. Perhaps they should have read some polls. The Gallup organization’s recent poll found that only 20% approve of the job Nancy Pelosi’s Democrat Congress is doing. Why would the people want to add more Democrats? From the votes in Ohio and Virginia it is obvious that they don’t.

THE RESULTS

Just this week I attended an event put on by the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List here in Washington. That organization specializes in helping elect pro-life women. Just 20 years ago there was just one pro-life woman in Congress, now there are 13. (There were 14 before JoAnn Davis died this year.) Attending that event were many congressmen that GING-PAC helped to elect.

Over the past few months I have been pessimistic about the chances of the Republicans taking back the House in the next election. I am beginning to change my mind. Despite the unpopular war in Iraq, the people are beginning to see what they got out of handing control of the House and Senate over to the radical left. The favorability numbers just keep going down for the Democrat Congress and many of their newly elected Members are already in trouble back in their home districts. We have an opportunity next November to elect pro-life, social conservative candidates to as many as 20 seats held by Democrats.

PRESIDENTIAL RACE

HUCK AND HILLARY

In an earlier update I said that if everyone who said, “I’d vote for Huckabee if I thought he could win,” would actually vote for Huckabee, he would win. Suddenly all those folks started to talk to each other and realized that was true. Huckabee is now number one in Iowa, South Carolina and several other states, and he is closing in nationally on Rudy Giuliani. One poll has him in a statistical tie for first place.

Why is Mike Huckabee’s message resonating? He didn’t have any money, his campaign was run on a shoe string budget, and he didn’t have any consultants to tell him what to say. Huckabee just answers the questions that are asked the best be can based on what he believes, and the people seem to like that.

Meanwhile Hillary Clinton is sinking in the polls. The more voters get to know her the less they like her. There is a chance she may not win in Iowa or New Hampshire. Barack Obama has Oprah on his side, but that is not going to win him the nomination. He has no executive experience and is a first term Senator. I am beginning to think there will be a dark horse getting the Democrat nomination, perhaps someone who is not even running yet.

HELP ELECT SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES

Conservative political action committees such as Government Is Not God need to have a major war chest available for the elections in 2008. We cannot participate and help elect godly social conservative candidates without funds. As of today our PAC has less than $20,000 on hand and we need at least ten times that to be able to affect the outcome of House elections next year. The first 2008 primary is just one month away!

If we are going to have an impact and put real conservatives in the House and Senate, men and women such as yourself must get involved.
