Aptil 2010 Campaign Update

SPECIAL HOUSE ELECTIONS

NEW YORK: Democrat congressman Eric Massa resigned his seat in New York’s 29th congressional district in disgrace after charges of sexual harassment were filed against him by male employees. It seems Massa hired mostly young men he thought to be gay, and then hounded them for certain “favors.”

As a result of Massa’s resignation, a special election will be held on .... NOT AT ALL.

Fearful that a Republican could win the seat, Democrat Governor David Paterson has refused to call a special election to fill the seat. As a result the people of the 29th district are disenfranchised. The Constitution is clear: Article I, section 2, clause 4 imposes a mandatory duty upon a governor to hold a special election to fill a vacancy in a congressional district caused by a death, expulsion or resignation.

A lawsuit is being filed by several Republican plaintiffs including GOP county chairmen in the 29th District, Bill Hatch and Jay Dutcher. The group of 29th District constituents claim they’ve been disenfranchised, since they will be without representation until 2011 if no special election is held. When a Republican governor in Illinois tried this trick a decade ago the ACLU filed a lawsuit to force a special election. Don’t expect the ACLU to help the GOP with this lawsuit.. The likely Republican candidate for the seat is Tom Reed, the mayor of Corning, NY.

PENNSYLVANIA: Congressman John Murtha died following complications of a rather simple operation in February and a special election date for his 12th District seat has been set for May 18th. Government Is Not God - PAC has endorsed Republican businessman Tim Burns. He received our endorsement because of this statement: “I am pro-life and believe there is no question that life begins at conception. But, I don’t think saying you are pro-life is good enough. I think we need to provide and encourage viable alternatives to abortion and work to decrease the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place. I believe that Marriage should be defined as a union between a man and a woman.” We need more men like Burns in Congress!

GING-PAC has sent $1,000 to assist the campaign and we have planned an independent mailing to the district that is not coordinated with the Burns campaign. We at GING-PAC hope to send additional funds before the election is held. To assist the Burns campaign directly, please do so at his Internet site to allow funds to reach him before election day. HAWAII: This one is complicated. Hawaii has a Republican governor although the state voted about 70% for Barack Obama. Governor Linda Lingle won in 1998 on the single issue to stop homosexual marriage. She has term limited and radical leftist former Democratic congressman Neil Abercrombie resigned his 1st District seat on Feb. 28 to run for governor. He is running against Lt. Governor James Aiona who stands against homosexual marriage as well.

Got that so far? The 1st District is two to one Democrat, but there are two Democrats running who are very strong. First is former Congressman Ed Case who has raised lots of money and who is popular. But he tried to unseat aging Senator Akaka in the Democrat primary in 2008. Akaka is still mad and has given $100,000 so far to Case’s opponent, Hawaii Senate President Colleen Hanabusa. In Washington the Democratic National Congressional Committee (DNCC) has decided to give money to Case. The result is two heavily funded Democrats knocking each other out, which could allow the election of Republican Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou. Unfortunately the Republican National Congressional Committee (RNCC) has refused to assist Djou, instead concentrating on the Murtha seat in Pennsylvania where they have already spent nearly $500,000.

GING-PAC is NOT endorsing Djou for two reasons: First he has been endorsed by the homosexual group Log Cabin Republicans. This homosexual group endorsed him because he said he would vote to end the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy in the military, thus allowing homosexuals to “serve” openly. Secondly, he has not responded to us about his position on abortion.

THE SENATE

CALIFORNIA: In my last update I mentioned that I attended an event with former HP executive Carly Fiorina in her bid to win a Senate seat from left-wing nut Barbara Boxer in California. I was specifically at the event to talk to her about social issues and to see where she really stood on abortion and “gay” issues. She answered all my questions but we did not endorse her because of issues while she was heading HP. I received dozens of e-mail's and letters from current and former HP employees telling me not to back Fiorina. Virtually all mentioned that they were forced into “love the gays” orientations at HP. The question remains: Was all the pro-gay training at HP directed from her office? If the pro-gay agenda was coming from her office did she have a change of heart?

As I wrote this update I received word that the Susan B. Anthony List, the largest pro-life PAC was going to endorse Carly Fiorina “in recognition of her firmly pro-life values.” GING-PAC is still staying out of the race and one of the main reasons is the cost of the primary. Right now Fiorina is splitting the conservative vote with Senator Jim DeMint’s candidate, state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore. I do not view Tom Campbell as a conservative and right now he is in the lead with 31 percent with Carly Fiorina at 17 percent and 14 percent for Chuck DeVore. 

KANSAS: Our candidate in Kansas is doing well against the establishment Republican RINO candidate. It appears that the powers here in Washington believe that after 12 years of strong wins by conservative Senator Sam Brownback that Kansas is ready to go back to the “moderate” Bob Dole era. We are continuing to back Congressman Todd Tiahrt for the seat Sam Brownback is leaving to run for governor.

March 2010 Campaign Update

THE SENATE

 

COLORADO: There is a very good chance that Colorado, which was a red state turning blue, may be mo v ing back to the conservative side. In late February I met with a very strong social conservative who is running for th e Senate slot on the Republican ticket. The election process in Colorado is very convoluted. On March 16th precinct caucuses are held to elect delegates to the county conventions. The county conventions are held in April to elect delegates to the state convention. At the state convention candidates receiving more than 30% of the votes of delegates are then placed on the primary ballot which is held in August. Thus, the c andidates must work to get their delegates elected at the precinct and county level to win the 30% plus votes needed at the state convention to even appear on the primary ballot. Got that?

In any event, I have met with former Lt. Governor Jane Norton who is running for the very winnable Senate seat in Colorado. I can report that she is 100% pro-life and an ideal social conservative candidate. Norton believes that life begins at conception and that marriage is an institution ordained by God as a union between one man and one woman. She is also an economic conservative who would be well suited to the ranching and mining interests in Colorado.

Government Is Not God - PAC has endorsed Jane Norton for Senate in Colorado, and our first check to her for $1,000 was issued in February. As additional funds are raised we will do our best to support Jane Norton in both the primary and general elections. (In photo above GING-PAC chairman William J. CALIFORNIA: In California there are two very strong candidates who are running in the GOP primary. Senator Jim DeMint formed the Senate Conservatives Fund to assist conservatives running for the Senate. In Florida he has backed Marco Rubio, as has GING-PAC. In California Senator DeMint’s PAC has backed Chuck DeVore who is a member of the California State Assembly. He ended a twenty-four year career in the military as a Lt. Colonel and served as a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon as a Special Assistant for Foreign Affairs. He is 100% pro-life. The rest of the GOP Senate establishment, even pro-life Senators such as my friend Senator Jim Inhofe, are supporting Carly Fiorina. As mentioned above, DeMint also bucked the establishment and backed Marco Rubio in Florida.

The establishment theory is that a “true conservative” can’t win in California and a more moderate candidate is needed to beat Senator Barbara Boxer in November. I have not as yet met with Chuck DeVore, but I did meet with Carly Fiorina during her last trip to Washington, DC in late February and talked with her extensively. The establishment has a problem if they are supporting Carly because they think she is a moderate. She is pro-life and believes that marriage should be only between one man and one woman. On the life issue she publicly sides with the official Republican party platform that is against abortion “except in cases of rape, incest and the life of the mother.” She does, however, believe that life begins at conception. The Republican establishment is no more going to be able to sell Fiorina to Californians as a “moderate” than they would be able to sell Chuck DeVore as a “moderate.” Real conservatives can win in California and there is no need to label someone a “moderate” to win. After all, Ronald Reagan was the governor of California before he was President of the United States.

I am not promoting Carly Fiorina, and GING-PAC has not endorsed her. GING-PAC will probably stay out of the California primary, but I can proclaim that either Chuck DeVore or Carly Fiorina would be a welcome replacement for the far left, people-hating environmentalist, Senator Barbara Boxer. Boxer has helped destroy tens of thousands of lives in California by helping take water from farms to support a fish less than an inch long. Boxer needs to go.

THE HOUSE

FLORIDA: We have now added Colonel Allen West for Congress in Florida’s 22nd District. We have supported Allen West in previous campaigns. He would have won in 2008 had it not been for the Democrat landslide in the House because of the economy. Now people realize that the economic problems were far deeper than politics, and the Democrat controlled Congress’ wild spending did nothing but create debt for our children and grandchildren to pay.

As I mentioned in the February campaign update, GING-PAC will also step forward to defend great conservative spokesmen who will be under attack from wealthy far left organizations such as Moveon.org this year. Michele Bachmann in Minnesota is going to be a major target of the far left. In Virginia radical left organizations have already begun a campaign against my good friend Eric Cantor who is the Republican Whip in the House. We want to get more conservative congressmen elected but we have to watch our backs and make sure that some of the conservative workhorses we have in the House are not defeated by the far left with their huge cash reserves.

February, 2010 Campaign Update

JOHN MCCAIN IN 2010 AND 2012

REALLY BAD NEWS: Senator John McCain has every intention of a rematch with Barack Obama in 2012. He has kept his presidential committee intact and when asked about Gov. Sarah Palin running in 2012 he said, “I’m not dead yet.” Nothing could be worse for the conservative cause and the Republican Party in 2012 than to have Senator John McCain at the top of the ticket again. The Senator will be 74 years old this year and 76 when he runs in 2012. The oldest man ever elected to the presidency was Ronald Reagan; he was 70 years old the day we was sworn in as the 41st president of the United States. Am I saying McCain is too old to be president? No, but I do remember Senator Bob Dole running for president in his seventies against a vigorous, younger Bill Clinton. In 1996 just about anyone could have beat Bill Clinton -- except Bob Dole. I believe the error is about to be repeated with an aging Senator running against a vigorous young president. I believe just about any Republican can beat Barack Obama in 2012 -- except John McCain.

That brings us back to 2010 and the Senate race in Arizona. My good friend Congressman J.D. Hayworth has decided to run against John McCain in the Republican Primary. The race shows what kind of man John McCain really is. Before Hayworth even made the decision to run, John McCain began running hateful negative ads against him. He demanded that the radio station that employed Hayworth as a commentator should fire him. He complained to the FEC about Hayworth having a radio show even though he (Hayworth) was not an announced candidate.

I have seen the vindictiveness of John McCain before. I have watched him turn red-faced and explode on the subway that runs under the Capitol between the various office building. McCain has a vicious temper which has not been tempered with age. On the other hand in his announcement for his run for the Senate, J. D. Hayworth said that John McCain had served the nation with honor, but that it was time for him to go.

THE TALE OF THE TAPE: J. D. Hayworth is far more conservative than John McCain in every area, including social issues. The American Conservative Union shows Hayworth in the top 4% of elected officials, but McCain only in the top 32%. That is a huge difference. Then there is this: McCain sponsored the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Act. The law prohibited conservative non-profit groups from campaigning but allowed Barack Obama to raise three quarters of a billion dollars for his presidential campaign. Much of that law has now been found unconstitutional. McCain sponsored the McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act, which would have capped CO2 emissions at the 2000 level. He also sponsored the McCain-Kennedy comprehensive immigration bill in 2005. McCain also voted in favor of the $850-billion TARP bailout one month prior to the 2008 elections, sealing the fate of his presidential campaign.

GING-PAC will back the conservative in this race and that is J. D. Hayworth.

OTHER SENATE ACTION: I had not planned on GING-PAC being involved in many Senate races not only because of the expense, but also because for a while it seemed hopeless for conservatives to take back the Senate in 2010. There are eight Republican seats vacant because of retirements and Senators running for other offices, such as governor. Our favorite Senator, Sam Brownback, is running for governor of Kansas. GING-PAC is supporting Todd Tiahrt to replace Sam Brownback in the Senate. Todd has personally promised me that he will take over the Senate Values Action Team and actively promote social conservative legislation, as Sam Brownback has. Dr. James Dobson, among many others, has endorsed Todd Tiahrt for the Senate.

With eight Republicans leaving, things looked a little bleak, that is until several high ranking Democrats also decided to step down. The latest is Senator Evan Bayh in Indiana. Indiana is a red state that has in the past gone blue for the Bayh family. Both Evan and his dad were governors and Senators in Indiana. Without a Bayh in the race, the seat will probably go to a Republican. GING-PAC does not have a candidate in that race as yet. Bayh’s decision comes after Sen. Chris Dodd, D-CT, and Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-ND, announced their retirements in January. Democrats also have to defend the seats of Barack Obama in Illinois and Joe Biden in Delaware. There are also vulnerable Democrat seats in other states.

In Missouri GING-PAC is supporting Congressman Roy Blunt who stepped out of his leadership roll as House Whip to run for Senate. Roy’s son was a popular governor of Missouri who did not seek reelection, but the Blunt name has a very good reputation in Missouri. Congressman Blunt is very conservative and 100% pro-life.

In my position as chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition I have worked numerous times on pro-life and other social conservative legislative issues with Congressman Blunt. This is a man who will help social conservatives once he is in the Senate. The most likely match-up in November appears to be pro-life Roy Blunt against pro-abortion Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.

THE HOUSE

On the House side we have added another candidate to the endorsed list. Tim Walberg was a true activist for social conservative and pro-life issues who lost his Michigan seat last year to a far left leaning liberal who was swept in with Barack Obama. Tim Walberg has a good chance at getting this seat back. A National Research Inc. poll has Walberg leading Schauer 46-37, and 50-40 with "leaners." It appears that voters in the conservative leaning 7th district of Michigan are having buyer’s remorse after watching Mark Schauer vote consistently with Nancy Pelosi in the House.

GING-PAC will also step forward to defend great conservative spokesmen who will be under attack by wealthy far left organizations such as Moveon-org this year. These include Michele Bachmann in Minnesota, Dr. Paul Broun in Georgia, Trent Franks in Arizona and Todd Akin in Missouri. While we want to get more conservative congressmen elected, we have to watch our back and make sure that some of the conservative workhorses we have in the House keep their seats.

GING-PAC did not endorse Scott Brown

Government Is Not God – PAC (GING-PAC) did not endorse Scott Brown for Senate in the Massachusetts special election. GING-PAC gave no financial support to Scott Brown either directly or indirectly.

There has been a lot of enthusiasm for Scott Brown from conservatives and some pro-life leaders have stated that his election saved the nation from the pro-abortion “health care reform” plans of President Barack Obama. Social conservatives should not be celebrating because Senator-elect Scott Brown by his own admission is “pro-choice,” not “pro-life.”  During his campaign he avoided the questionnaires of social conservative and pro-life groups. His campaign did not respond to calls from GING-PAC and Brown did not reply to the GING-PAC questionnaire which asks many sharp questions on pro-family issues such as abortion and homosexual marriage.

GING-PAC is the nation’s oldest social conservative political action committee and does a not support any candidate who believes Roe v. Wade should be the law of the land.

While conservatives were still shouting for joy after his election to the Senate, Scott Brown flew to Washington, DC where he told Republican leaders that the party could not count on his vote in several areas including on the abortion issue.

Scott Brown’s victory came during a special election and he has only two years remaining in the Senate seat that was vacated by the death of Senator Joe Kennedy. That means he literally must start running for reelection now and he will probably move to the left on social issues despite the fact that he ran as a “conservative.” Scott Brown may be another Arlene Specter who will vote with the party most of the time, but neither the party nor conservatives will be able to count on him as a full time participant in the conservative movement.

January, 2010 Campaign Update

SCOTT BROWN WIN IS NOT A GOP VICTORY

On Wednesday, January 20th Republicans in Washington were bloated with arrogant victory. I told one Republican Senator, "Arrogance is what lost this seat for the Democrats, don't go there." I was not alone in tossing cold water on Republican grandstanding. This is the reality: The Republicans didn't win in Massachusetts; the Democrats lost. The Democrats lost because of arrogance and back room deals that  disturbed at the deepest level America's sense of fairness. Almost 25% of Democrats voted for Scott Brown. His victory was as much a message to Republicans as to Democrats. The message was clear: no more secret  deals that affect the people as a whole. Stop the corruption and do everything in the open as the Founders intended.

Barack Obama is as clueless about Scott Brown's election to the Senate as the Republican leaders. "Here's my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts but the mood around the country: The same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office," Obama said in an interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos. "People are angry and they are frustrated. Not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years but what's happened over the last eight years." If  President Obama actually believes this statement, that Republican Scott brown was elected in a heavily Democrat state because people are still angry at George W. Bush, then the President is delusional.

Republicans lost the Senate and the House in 2006 because of corruption and back room deals. Scott Brown was elected in Massachusetts because the people are fed up with the corruption and back room deals of the Democrats. Scott Brown's election was not just a "wake up" call to Democrats; it was a warning from the people to both major parties. The message is clear: We want honesty and transparency and no more secret deals that cost us, the people, our treasury.

Minority Leader John Boehner attempted to explain his version of the Brown victory to a small group meeting that I attended the day after the election. Boehner told the story of a visit to a businessman during his fist election campaign. The businessman told him, “Just promise me one thing and I will support you. Just give me less of what I don’t want than the other guy.” Although Boehner told the story, he still didn’t understand what the businessman had told him.

When Boehner was finished I told him, “What the businessman in your story told you is the story of us all, but why do you guys fund ACORN and Planned Parenthood and the NEA when you take power? You are not giving us ‘less of what we don’t want.’” Boehner’s response to me was a little odd.  He said: “This time we can’t fund those groups, the nation is broke.” Yes, it is broke all right, and it isn’t just the Democrats that got us here. We need fewer of the Democrat and Republican spenders and more social conservatives who tend to be those who believe in the family and not big government, and actually spend less as a result.

THE HOUSE

I cannot emphasize enough that there are 63 House seats currently held by Democrats in districts won by George W. Bush in 2004. There are an astonishing 40 Democrats in districts won by John McCain just last year. Some of these seats are in races that are expensive, but others can be won in a very cost effective manner.

This month I want to highlight one seat that I believe conservatives can win in November, a seat that will not cost the conservative side millions of dollars to win because it is not in a high dollar advertising market. The seat is in Idaho, a state that has only two congressmen.

GING-PAC is endorsing Vaughn Ward, a man who has an amazing personal story.

Vaughn Ward was raised by a single mom in Shoshone, Idaho. He played football in high school and at Boise State University. He graduated with a degree in political science and volunteered in a Senate campaign for Dirk Kempthorne, who won in 1992. The new Senator was so impressed he took Vaughn Ward to Washington as his Legislative Aid. In 1995 he left the Senator’s office to join the Marine Corps and served in Liberia, Cuba, Japan and Korea. The Marines eventually sent him to Capitol Hill as a military fellow working on the military budget. During this time he earned an MBA at the University of Maryland, and after the 9-11 jihad attack on New York and Washington he joined the CIA as an Operations Officer and served in the Middle East and Africa.

In 2006 Vaughn Ward took a leave of absence from the CIA to rejoin the Marines for a tour of duty in Iraq where he commanded Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in combat in Fallujah. He received the Bronze Star with Combat V for Valor. After his tour he became the Nevada State Director for the McCain/Palin campaign. Vaughn is married to Kirsten and they have two children.

Vaughn is a man of valor and courage who has served his nation, not just politically, but has put his life on the line for our freedoms. Vaughn Ward is exactly the kind of man we need in Washington rather than career politicians and “community organizers.”

Government Is Not God - PAC has endorsed Vaughn Ward and his campaign has been given an initial check. I am hopeful that we can send Vaughn further funds for his campaign as we raise more funds for races in 2010.

KEEPING THE POWDER DRY

As chairman of Government Is Not God - PAC, it is important that I authorize funding to candidates wisely during this crucial election cycle. In the next few months we will endorse more conservative challengers to Democrat held seats in both the House and Senate. I make an effort to talk directly to every candidate we endorse, even incumbents like Michele Bachmann, before the PAC endorses them and issues a check. While it is important to know that they will vote with us on social issues, it is also important to know if they in fact do need our funds. If a candidate is doing well financially, I ask them to be frank with me so that we can fund someone in greater need.

When the time comes to act, when the time comes to endorse and to fund, GING-PAC needs to be ready. It is crucial that we have at least an additional $25,000 on hand by March 1st when primaries begin and we start to fund for the general election.

December, 2009 - Campaign Update

“FINGERS WERE BURNED AND LESSONS WERE LEARNED”

            Those were the exact words of one of the GOP leaders in the House when he spoke about the GOP loss in New York’s 23rd congressional district. Republican leaders had pushed the district’s Republican voters to accept liberal Deidre Scozzafava as their candidate regardless of her strong support of abortion and same-sex marriage. Economic conservatives could not support her either because of her long voting record for profligate spending and higher taxes.

      Scozzafava raised very little money from individuals, but had the support of the AFL-CIO and ACORN. As social and economic conservative groups rallied to support Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, she sank in the polls like a rock and was forced to withdraw just days before the election. Showing her true colors, she then endorsed Democrat Bill Owens. Even then, Doug Hoffman came within a point of winning and may yet be the victor.

            The “mainstream media” claims that we conservatives sunk the chances of the “moderate” Republican, Scozzafava. That is untrue. Scozzafava voted to the left of 46 Democrats in the New York House. GOP leadership accepted the line that only a liberal can win in the Northeast. Conservatives could have worked with a real “moderate,” but Scozzafava was no “moderate.” Other than on the issue of gun ownership she was as far left as Nancy Pelosi.

            Doug Hoffman would have won except for absentee ballots that had been cast for Scozzafava before Hoffman even entered the race. Had she not been the Republican candidate, Hoffman would have had an opening to win the seat. If he runs again next November, GING-PAC will be there to support him again.

MORE HOUSE ELECTIONS

            Two “centrist” Democrats have announced that they will not run for reelection. While they gave various reasons, the truth is that polling shows Barack Obama has moved the Democrat Party so far to the left that they can’t get reelected in their districts. Dennis Moore in the Kansas-3rd, where Bush got 55% of the vote in 2004, has said he will not seek reelection. John Tanner in the  Tennessee - 8th also will not run. Tanner supported Pelosi 94.6% of the time. His district voted 53% for Bush in 2004 and 56% for McCain in 2008. Tanner had been so strong in the conservative 8th District that in previous races no Republican ran against him. Unless the Republican Party picks yet another Scozzafava type liberal to run, this seat can be won. GING-PAC is reviewing questionnaires from candidates to determine who to support.                                    

            I can not emphasize enough that there are 63 House seats currently held by Democrats in districts won by George W. Bush in 2004. There are an astonishing 40 Democrats in districts won by John McCain just last year.                                                                        

            Many of the Democrats in these conservative districts have supported Nancy Pelosi over 90% of the time. A case in point is Congressman John Spratt in South Carolina’s 5th District. Bush won the district with 57% and McCain with 53%, yet Spratt has supported radical Speaker Nancy Pelosi on 98.1% of votes. In Tennessee’s 6th District, John McCain received 62% of the vote yet Democrat Congressman Bart Gordon has voted 96.2%  of the time with San Francisco radical Nancy Pelosi. In Missouri’s 4th District, Congressman Ike Skelton has voted with Pelois 95.5% of the time, even though the 4th District went to McCain with 61% of the vote.

            I am enclosing a chart showing all currently held Democrat seats in the House which went for Bush in 2004, McCain in 2008, or both. Names in bold indicate first term freshmen members.

            There is also a lot of corruption in the Democrat Party that will hurt them in 2010.  Rep. Rangel of New York is just one example. He failed to disclose to the IRS $75,000 in rental income he made overseas since 1988, and that is not his only transgression. Then there is the mini marijuana farm belonging to Congressman Barnie Frank’s live-in gay lover. And yes, the lover does have a “spouse” congressional access ID and lapel pin. On the Senate side Senator Baucus, who is 68 years old, dumped his second wife for a young staffer. Then, as chair of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, he tried to appoint his mistress, Melodee Hanes, as a U.S. Attorney.

            I am very impressed with Vaughn Ward, who is running for Bill Sali’s seat in Idaho’s 1st District.  Raised on a farm by a single mother, he graduated from college with a degree in political science and then served in the Marine Corps. He later served with the Marines as liaison to Capitol Hill and then went to the CIA. After the 9-11 Jihad attack on the USA, he left a promising career in the CIA and returned to the Marines to serve in Iraq. Reaching the rank of Major, he earned a Bronze Star.             We must also play defense to help incumbents who are important to us. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is a target for the far left. She is hated because she is a pro-life woman with five children, a good marriage and a successful career. THE SENATE

            Right now I am watching Senate races closely but have not gotten really involved. In several states there is more than one social conservative running. With our limited funds, I do not want Government Is Not God - PAC to commit funds in a primary where there is more than one good social conservative. Also, because of the cost of campaigns it is hard to tell who will stay in. A candidate I liked in Illinois has already dropped out.

            California is interesting; businesswoman Carly Fiorina, former CEO of HP, is running for the Senate. While there is no mention of social issues at her Internet site, she told the Wall Street Journal that she is "proudly pro-life" and an opponent of taxpayer funding of abortions. On the other hand, while she led HP the company developed a strong “domestic partnership” program. That said, California and the nation would be far better served with Fiorina, than with Barbara Boxer in a Senate seat championing her extreme anti-people “environmental” agenda for yet another six years.

            GING-PAC will probably spend most of its resources in 2010 on conservative House candidates running in the districts carried by both Bush in 2004 and McCain in 2008, and which now have Democrat congressmen.  In the last update I said that the elections were too far away for us to endorse any specific candidates, but that is beginning to change, as viable, godly candidates step forward.
