SCOTT BROWN ELECTION IS NOT A REPUBLICAN VICTORY

On Wednesday, January 20th Republicans in Washington were bloated with arrogant victory. I told one Republican Senator, "Arrogance is what lost this seat for the Democrats, don't go there." I was not alone in tossing cold water on Republican grandstanding. This is the reality: The Republicans didn't win in Massachusetts; the Democrats lost. The Democrats lost because of arrogance and backroom deals that  disturbed at the deepest level America's sense of fairness. Almost 25% of Democrats voted for Scott Brown. His victory was as much a message to Republicans as to Democrats. The message was clear: no more secret  deals that affect the people as a whole. Stop the corruption and do everything in the open as the Founders intended.

OBAMA ON BROWN - This was Obama's clueless statement about Scott Brown's election to the Senate: "Here's my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts but the mood around the country: The same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office," Obama said in an interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos. "People are angry and they are frustrated. Not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years but what's happened over the last eight years." If  President Obama actually believes this statement, that Republican Scott brown was elected in a heavily Democrat state because people are still angry at George W. Bush, then the President is delusional.

Republicans lost the Senate and the House in 2006 because of corruption and backroom deals. Scott Brown was elected in Massachusetts because the people are fed up with the corruption and backroom deals of the Democrats. Scott Brown's election was not just a "wake up" call to Democrats; it was a warning from the people to both major parties. The message is clear: We want honesty and transparency and no more secret deals that cost us, the people, our treasury.

December, 2009 - Campaign Update

“FINGERS WERE BURNED AND LESSONS WERE LEARNED”

            Those were the exact words of one of the GOP leaders in the House when he spoke about the GOP loss in New York’s 23rd congressional district. Republican leaders had pushed the district’s Republican voters to accept liberal Deidre Scozzafava as their candidate regardless of her strong support of abortion and same-sex marriage. Economic conservatives could not support her either because of her long voting record for profligate spending and higher taxes.

      Scozzafava raised very little money from individuals, but had the support of the AFL-CIO and ACORN. As social and economic conservative groups rallied to support Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, she sank in the polls like a rock and was forced to withdraw just days before the election. Showing her true colors, she then endorsed Democrat Bill Owens. Even then, Doug Hoffman came within a point of winning and may yet be the victor.

            The “mainstream media” claims that we conservatives sunk the chances of the “moderate” Republican, Scozzafava. That is untrue. Scozzafava voted to the left of 46 Democrats in the New York House. GOP leadership accepted the line that only a liberal can win in the Northeast. Conservatives could have worked with a real “moderate,” but Scozzafava was no “moderate.” Other than on the issue of gun ownership she was as far left as Nancy Pelosi.

            Doug Hoffman would have won except for absentee ballots that had been cast for Scozzafava before Hoffman even entered the race. Had she not been the Republican candidate, Hoffman would have had an opening to win the seat. If he runs again next November, GING-PAC will be there to support him again.

MORE HOUSE ELECTIONS

            Two “centrist” Democrats have announced that they will not run for reelection. While they gave various reasons, the truth is that polling shows Barack Obama has moved the Democrat Party so far to the left that they can’t get reelected in their districts. Dennis Moore in the Kansas-3rd, where Bush got 55% of the vote in 2004, has said he will not seek reelection. John Tanner in the  Tennessee - 8th also will not run. Tanner supported Pelosi 94.6% of the time. His district voted 53% for Bush in 2004 and 56% for McCain in 2008. Tanner had been so strong in the conservative 8th District that in previous races no Republican ran against him. Unless the Republican Party picks yet another Scozzafava type liberal to run, this seat can be won. GING-PAC is reviewing questionnaires from candidates to determine who to support.                                    

            I can not emphasize enough that there are 63 House seats currently held by Democrats in districts won by George W. Bush in 2004. There are an astonishing 40 Democrats in districts won by John McCain just last year.                                                                        

            Many of the Democrats in these conservative districts have supported Nancy Pelosi over 90% of the time. A case in point is Congressman John Spratt in South Carolina’s 5th District. Bush won the district with 57% and McCain with 53%, yet Spratt has supported radical Speaker Nancy Pelosi on 98.1% of votes. In Tennessee’s 6th District, John McCain received 62% of the vote yet Democrat Congressman Bart Gordon has voted 96.2%  of the time with San Francisco radical Nancy Pelosi. In Missouri’s 4th District, Congressman Ike Skelton has voted with Pelois 95.5% of the time, even though the 4th District went to McCain with 61% of the vote.

            I am enclosing a chart showing all currently held Democrat seats in the House which went for Bush in 2004, McCain in 2008, or both. Names in bold indicate first term freshmen members.

            There is also a lot of corruption in the Democrat Party that will hurt them in 2010.  Rep. Rangel of New York is just one example. He failed to disclose to the IRS $75,000 in rental income he made overseas since 1988, and that is not his only transgression. Then there is the mini marijuana farm belonging to Congressman Barnie Frank’s live-in gay lover. And yes, the lover does have a “spouse” congressional access ID and lapel pin. On the Senate side Senator Baucus, who is 68 years old, dumped his second wife for a young staffer. Then, as chair of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, he tried to appoint his mistress, Melodee Hanes, as a U.S. Attorney.

            I am very impressed with Vaughn Ward, who is running for Bill Sali’s seat in Idaho’s 1st District.  Raised on a farm by a single mother, he graduated from college with a degree in political science and then served in the Marine Corps. He later served with the Marines as liaison to Capitol Hill and then went to the CIA. After the 9-11 Jihad attack on the USA, he left a promising career in the CIA and returned to the Marines to serve in Iraq. Reaching the rank of Major, he earned a Bronze Star.             We must also play defense to help incumbents who are important to us. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is a target for the far left. She is hated because she is a pro-life woman with five children, a good marriage and a successful career. THE SENATE

            Right now I am watching Senate races closely but have not gotten really involved. In several states there is more than one social conservative running. With our limited funds, I do not want Government Is Not God - PAC to commit funds in a primary where there is more than one good social conservative. Also, because of the cost of campaigns it is hard to tell who will stay in. A candidate I liked in Illinois has already dropped out.

            California is interesting; businesswoman Carly Fiorina, former CEO of HP, is running for the Senate. While there is no mention of social issues at her Internet site, she told the Wall Street Journal that she is "proudly pro-life" and an opponent of taxpayer funding of abortions. On the other hand, while she led HP the company developed a strong “domestic partnership” program. That said, California and the nation would be far better served with Fiorina, than with Barbara Boxer in a Senate seat championing her extreme anti-people “environmental” agenda for yet another six years.

            GING-PAC will probably spend most of its resources in 2010 on conservative House candidates running in the districts carried by both Bush in 2004 and McCain in 2008, and which now have Democrat congressmen.  In the last update I said that the elections were too far away for us to endorse any specific candidates, but that is beginning to change, as viable, godly candidates step forward.

OBAMA'S TINKERBELL WORLD

Would you be willing to die to make Europeans think better of America? Apparently Barack Obama thinks the opinion Europeans, Asians and Africans have about him is more important than the security of our nation. In a recent CNN interview he said, "... before my election, less than half the people -- maybe less than 40 percent of the people -- thought that you could count on America to do to the right thing. Now it's up to 75 percent." What does "the right thing" mean? To despotic leaders it means Barack Obama is more interested in his international image than in the security of his nation and they will take advantage of that weakness.  

OBAMA'S POLITICALLY CORRECT GENERAL, PART TWO- Last week at MurrayOntheHill.com I mentioned what Army Chief of Staff George Casey, Jr. said about Ft. Hood that it would be a "greater tragedy" than the 14 murders if Army 'diversity' was negatively affected. My good friend and syndicated columnist Don Feder had a great suggestion for General Casey: "Casey should demonstrate his commitment to diversity by offering to lead a squad of randomly picked Muslim GIs on a mission in Afghanistan - all of whom are behind him with loaded weapons." Sounds like a fair test to me. Read Don's full article on political correctness and Islam. There is still no word from the Army as to why in its quest for 'diversity,' the 51st Translation Interpreter Company at Fort Lewis became 100% Muslim. More than 85% of Arabic speakers in the USA are Christians.

HOFFMAN MAY HAVE WON IN NY-23

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi swore in Bill Owen, the unofficial "winner" even though the race has not yet been certified. She did this because the unofficial "loser" conceded defeat early because he believed the returns. But as fraudulent votes for the Democrat are being tossed out and absentee ballots from the military are being counted the "win" by Owen is evaporating. The Conservative Party candidate backed by GING-PAC, Doug Hoffman, conceded when he thought he had lost by 5335 votes but he is now trailing by less than 3,000 votes. If the final total puts Hoffman in the lead, some experts believe that Bill Owen would be forced to relinquish his House seat.

"We’ll certify whatever the counties tell us is their numbers, and we’ll communicate that to the clerk of the House," John Conklin, spokesman for the New York State Board of Elections told an upstate newspaper. If Hoffman is certified the ultimate winner by the New York State Board of Elections Speaker Pelosi, being as dishonest as she is, will probably refuse to seat him. After all, she did seat Owen with no certificate from his state. The board of elections will certify the result at its December board meeting.

Scozzafava backs down-Social conservatives win

Dierdre (Dede) Scozzafava suspended her campaign for New York's 23rd Congressional District admitting that she was the wrong candidate for the GOP. Scozzafava fell behind both the Democrat and Conservative Party candidate in the newest poll. The election is Tuesday and is a preview of how conservatives may do in 2010.

The NRCC (NatioRepublican Congressional Committee) had hand picked the pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda liberal Republican Scozzafava. She was the favorite of would be power broker and Minority Leader John Boenher.

Government Is Not God - PAC refused to back the anti-family Scozzafava as did virtually all other social conservative groups. GING-PAC endorsed and supported Doug Hoffman of the Conservative Party. Without social conservative help Scozzafava sank in the polls even after former Speaker Newt Gingrich sold out his principles and endorsed her.

The new Siena College poll shows Democrat Owens at 36 percent of the vote, Conservative Hoffman at 35 percent and "Republican "Scozzafava at just 20 percent, with nine percent undecided.


NRCC spokesman Ken Spain said Scozzafava will release her supporters to Hoffman. That endorsement will put NRCC phone banks, voter e-mails and ground operations behind Hoffman.
 
GING-PAC chairman William J. Murray said, "This is a huge victory for social conservatives who have drawn a line in the sand for Minority Leader John Boenher, making it clear to him that they will not support Republican 'moderates' who advocate special rights for homosexuals and government funding for abortion."

Obama's Payback to His Big Donors Exposed

OBAMA'S PAYBACK TO HOMOSEXUALS - This week Barack Obama signed the Defense Authorization Bill that included special rights and protections for homosexuals. The bill authorized grants of $100,000 to investigate hate crimes, the grants to be given to local and "tribal" law enforcement agencies. Careful reading reveals the following: A local agency only gets additional grant funds if it is investigating a "hate crime." There will now be a huge spike in "hate crime" investigations as local agency that are cash strapped try to get the funds. Homosexuals were given the special protections and rights in the Defense Authorization as a payback by Obama for the many millions of dollars donated to him, much of it illegally, by homosexual groups. OBAMA THE GOLF GUY - President George W. Bush suffered from media attacks for participating in any recreational activity while our troops were in harm's way. There has been virtually no news media reports on the 24 golf outings by Obama. Even less attention has been paid to the identities of those who play golf with him, such as UBS America's CEO Robert Wolf. (UBS is a Swiss Bank) The CEO had raised half a million dollars for Obama and his bank got a sweetheart deal with the IRS. Obama has also given the keys to the White House bowling alley to his top donors, and he watched a 3-D movie with them in the White House movie theater. Read more

GING-PAC ENDORSES DOUG HOFFMAN IN NY-23!

GOP candidate does not receive special election endorsement

      Government Is Not God, the nation’s oldest political action committee for social conservatives, has endorsed Doug Hoffman for the vacant House seat in New York’s 23rd congressional district. There are three candidates in the special election for the 23rd district and only one is a conservative; that conservative is Doug Hoffman. He has a proven track record as both a social and fiscal conservative. GING-PAC is proud to join with other social conservative and pro-life groups in endorsing Doug Hoffman. 

      Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has demonstrated his commitment to family values and has shown strong leadership in community affairs as well as a keen business sense. Raised by a single mom, Doug Hoffman served in the Army and worked his way through college before starting a successful business career.  Today he heads Hoffman Family Enterprises, which includes six accounting firms and a variety of other successful businesses.  He understands the burden government is placing on working families and small businessmen, and the danger posed by radicals bent on destroying the rich cultural heritage of our nation.

            Republican leaders who pushed the district’s Republicans to accept liberal Deidre Scozzafava as their candidate have made a critical error. Mrs. Scozzafava is an unacceptable candidate for social conservatives because of her strong support of abortion and same-sex marriage. Economic conservatives cannot support her because of a long record of profligate spending and support of higher taxes.

      Scozzafava has raised very little money from individuals, but has received contributions from some of the same unions that strongly support President Obama and Speaker Pelosi, namely the AFL-CIO and ACORN affiliated SEICUS. She has been elected to the New York House on the Family Workers Party ticket which is a far-left radical party supported by ACORN. Her husband is the regional president of the AFL-CIO.

      GOP leaders seem to have taken their conservative base for granted, figuring they can get liberals to vote for Scozzafava instead of the Democrat candidate. This strategy won’t work; liberals are not going to abandon the Democrat party on November 3rd to vote for Scozzafava.

     It is fortunate that there is a strong third party available in New York to field a candidate that is an alternative to the two liberals that the Democrat and Republican Parties have put forward as candidates in the 23rd. 

MORE ON THE HOUSE

           

            SOME GENERAL DETAILS: I keep a spreadsheet taped to the wall next to my computer  at my office, showing all the formerly “Republican” congressional seats now held by Democrats. There are 63 seats in districts won by George W. Bush in 2004, but that are now held by Democrats. Astonishingly, there are 40 seats in districts won by John McCain just last year, that now are held by Democrats who support radical leftist Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

            I am constantly looking for conservative candidates in these districts that GING-PAC can support, and who can win. GING-PAC will not support pro-abortion candidates or those who favor  the homosexual agenda, regardless of how many votes the Republican leadership claims they can get. That is why I am supporting the Conservative Party candidate in New York’s 23rd.

            ILLINOIS - One of the districts on that spreadsheet is Illinois’ 14th District. The 14th has been a Republican district for decades and was last held by the last Republican Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert. When Hastert lost his job as Speaker, he walked away from his seat allowing a special election that was won by Pelosi’s choice, Bill Foster. He then won reelection in the Obama wave that swept over Illinois last November.

            A good godly man, a state Senator who home schools his four kids is now challenging Bill Foster for Hastert’s old seat. Randy Hultgren has been elected four times in Illinois as a state representative and then as a state Senator. I have met with Senator Hultgren, and I can say that I am very impressed with his conservatism and his faith. He met his wife of 18 years at Bethel College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He went on to get a law degree and entered the business world. He has served on the boards of Christian ministries in Illinois and is solidly pro-life and pro-family. This is a man I can support.

            There are four other candidates in the primary, none of whom has ever held a public office. One is Ethan Hastert, the son of former Speaker Dennis Hastert. His candidacy bothers me because all of his political experience is as a lobbyist in Washington, DC. He actually moved back to Illinois to run for this seat. On the other hand, Senator Randy Hultgren has been in the district serving the people of Illinois.

                Every new candidate that GING-PAC will endorse for the 2010 cycle must fill out our questionnaire. Candidates don’t even need to call; they can download the questionnaire from our Internet site at www.gingpac.org, fill it out and fax it to us in here in Washington. I am very sure that some so-called Republican candidates take a look at the questionnaire and then don’t bother to ever contact us. The questions make it obvious the kind of candidates we support - conservative!
